Okavango African Orchestra: Nov 9, 2019

Enjoy the unique and sensational rhythms of the Okavango African Orchestra — a Juno award-winning ensemble, featuring eight African-born musicians, playing multiple instruments, and singing in ten different languages.

The ensemble takes its name from Botswana’s Okavango Delta, where a diverse array of animal life exists in harmony. In the same spirit, the Okavango African Orchestra brings together rhythms and traditions from African cultures that have historically had little or no interaction.

This performance is presented in collaboration with Batuki Music for our 2019/20 Performing Arts season, Listening to Each Other, which pays tribute to the role of the performative arts in connecting communities, preserving culture, and spurring social change. It’s also part of our fall season —Africa! — which explores new dimensions of the vast and complex continent with a world-class lineup of art, performers, and speakers.
