Not so today.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then as now, the ensemble represented a uniquely Canadian cultural identity: &#8220;<a title=\" African Guitar Summit (Vol 1 CD)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cbcshop.ca\/books-cds\/cds\/music\/african-guitar-summit-vol-1-cd.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a diverse group<\/a>&#8230; who have all brought&#8230; gifts of their own to this country.&#8221; That reflection was substantiated both by the <a title=\"Juno Award 2005\" href=\"http:\/\/junoawards.ca\/awards\/yearly-summary\/?group_id=199&amp;category_ids=199&amp;from_year=2005&amp;to_year=2005&amp;submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2005 Juno Award<\/a> won by that debut album, and by the group&#8217;s appearance a few months later at the <a title=\"Live 8 in Barrie\" href=\"http:\/\/www.live8live.com\/theconcerts\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live 8 concert<\/a> in Barrie, which showcased the best of Canadian talent to an international audience. Since that breakthrough, followed by a second CD and countless kilometres of touring, African Guitar Summit remains &#8220;<a title=\"Exclaim review\" href=\"http:\/\/exclaim.ca\/Reviews\/SoulFunkAndWorld\/african_guitar_summit-ii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a miracle of compromise and teamwork<\/a>: each guitarist is a lead voice in their own right, and they work with disparate styles that might otherwise seem irreconcilable&#8221;&#8230;\u00a0 worthy &#8216;musical ambassadors&#8217; for an early start to Canada Day celebrations.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #a91d0e;\">AFRICAN GUITAR SUMMIT<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Indulge in the sounds of the finest Canadian guitarists of African origin! Some have suggested the instrument was first introduced by the Portuguese in the 16th century \u2013 but there is no evidence of this.
