Batuki Music Society presents an evening of highlife music with a Tribute to Jewel Ackah, the King of Highlife, featuring his son, Kofi Ackah with the Butterfly Band<\/a>. Jewel Ackah was a popular singer, drummer and composer who helped to popularise highlife music in the 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s. With over twenty albums to his credit, many hit songs and awards, he contributed greatly to the popular music of his home, Ghana.<\/p>

Following in his father’s footsteps, Kofi Ackah has been a fixture in the African music scene in Canada for many years, having performed with many groups, and a JUNO award winner and nominee for his work with the African Guitar Summit and Okavango African Orchestra. The Butterfly Band features a talented group of musicians that share a love of Ghanaian highlife music and Jewel Ackah’s musical legacy.<\/p>
