Harbourfront Centre in association with Batuki Music Society presents a musical tribute to the cultures of Francophone artists from the African continent, featuring music from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin and Niger. These artists have settled in the province of Quebec, formed bands to continue their musical traditions and heritage and contributed to the artistic landscape and wealth of Francophonie culture.<\/p>

CARINE AU MICRO<\/strong> is a singer\/songwriter whose interest in music began at an early age in Benin. Her music encompasses Afro-pop, jazz, hip-hop, gospel and some traditional music. She is a vibrant voice and innovative performer in the African music scene in Montreal.<\/p>

Multi-instrumentalist Nigerian musician BOUB\u00c9<\/strong> immerses his listeners in the enchanting atmosphere of the desert and the richness of Tamasheq culture. Specializing in Tuareg music, often referred to as \u201cdesert blues,\u201d Boub\u00e9\u2019s music explores themes of peace, friendship and adventure, drawing inspiration from his heritage and the nomadic lifestyle of the Berber people.<\/p>

NAXX BITOTA<\/strong>\u2019s energetic musical performances, workshops and conferences build bridges between her native culture and all those she has encountered along the way, especially that of her adopted country, Canada, for the past 16 years. Known for her music that blends African rhythms with Afropop and Mutuashi, a unique traditional style from the Democratic Republic of Congo, she presented her new album 64 as an expression of her deepest thoughts and the multiple dimensions of her artistic personality.<\/p>
